5. Ant-Man

The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings us the amazing Ant-Man, based on the Marvel comic character of the same name – first published in 1962. Opening in cinemas July 17th, the film depicts Scott Lang, a renowned thief, helping protect the Ant-Man technology and suits creator, Dr Hank Pym, from unforeseen yet deadly foes. Those of you who have read the comics will know the Ant-Man is not to be underestimated as the suit allows the user to not only shrink in size, but also increase in strength. Not only that, the Ant-Man is able to command a hoard of insects to use at his disposal – an ideal superpower, we’re sure you’d agree? Wired.co.uk believe the upcoming film to be one of Marvel Studios’ riskiest yet, after 8 years in development and having lost its original director. But then again, have you ever seen a bad Paul Rudd film? We doubt it.

4. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2

Based on the critically-acclaimed novel by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 follows the Nation of Panem, encouraged by District 13, scale an all-out rebellion war against the autocratic Capitol, with Katniss Everdeen at the forefront of the revolt as the peoples Mockingjay – a much needed symbol of hope in a time of fear and death. What started as volunteering as tribute for her sister, Prim, now sees Katniss and a carefully selected team of newly inhabited District 13 members take on the Capitol as they attempt to assassinate President Snow – a showdown we certainly do not want to miss! With the films release set for November 20th, a trailer is yet to be aired. Nevertheless, if Part 1 is anything to go by, the final instalment is going to propel the phenomenon to the next level (if that’s even possible!).

3. Jurassic World

At number 3, we have the highly-anticipated, next  chapter of the Jurassic Park series, Jurassic World. Executively produced by the legendary Steven Spielberg, the franchise is thought to hit new heights, promising an exceptional Jurassic experience - set to be bigger, louder and with more teeth! 22 years since the catastrophic dino-fuelled events of Jurassic Park, the iconic gates are open once again on June 12th with John Hammonds’ dream of a fully functional park, finally being bought to life. The introduction of a new hybrid dinosaur, created in a laboratory from a cocktail of genes, is set to drum up excitement for what seems to be a dying tourist attraction. The question is - does a full park mean happy campers or easy-pickings for the Indominus Rex, herself? Perhaps we’ll find out if she somehow manages to… let’s say, escape? Clever girl.

2. Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… a franchise of galactic proportion was born. 2015 will see the next instalment of the space opera make its debut with Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens, hitting big screens December 18th. Picking up, what is rumoured to be, 30 years after Episode VI – Return of The Jedi, the wildly-speculated plot will see Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford reprise their roles as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo from the original trilogy. Disney are attempting to remain coy regarding the new storyline, characters and filming locations for the 7th film however, everyone’s favourite double act, R2D2 and C3PO have been confirmed to return. With a budget of over $200 million and J.J. Abrams as director, the film undoubtedly deserves a place in our top 5 blockbusters of 2015.

1. Avengers: Age of Ultron

With The Avengers being the third highest grossing film of ALL time according to Box Office Mojo, it may come as no surprise that our top spot goes to the films upcoming sequel, The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Yet again, the fate of the world is balanced in the hands of Earths mightiest hero’s as the Avengers assemble once more, battling the fearsome Ultron and his desire to destroy the human race and existence as we know it. The film introduces two new mysterious recruits, with names almost as fierce as their super-powers, as sibling duo Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch join the fray. With refreshed costumes, weapons and a brand spanking new HQ, courtesy of Tony Stark of-course, what more could we ask for? Let’s just hope the gang manage to keep their differences aside this time as we all know what happens when Bruce Banner loses his cool. We’re far too excited to witness the action-packed, superhero goodness of what is set to be not only the biggest superhero film this year (sorry Antman!), but also one of the biggest films of 2015.
